On June 7, 2018, Entertainment Weekly revealed the cover of Judith’s next book – and it is gorgeous.
In the interview, Judith drops hints about the upcoming book. Most intriguing is that while the book is based on Double Exposure (which appeared in the Gift of Love and Simple Gifts anthologies), Judith mentions that she is not only “significantly expanding” the story, but “radically rewriting” it as well.
For those familiar with the original short story, it features Corey Foster (stepsister to Diana Foster from Remember When), who as a girl harbored a not-so-secret obsession with handsome Spencer Addison. Years later, as a photographer for Foster’s Beautiful Living magazine, Corey finds herself in Newport for the most spectacular wedding of the year, where she comes face to face with Spencer for the first time since he broke her heart.
One of the changes we can expect to see is the setting. The story is now set, not in Newport, but on a lush estate in Palm Beach. Judith hints that we can expect cameo appearances from Noah and Sloan Maitland (Night Whispers), who live on a neighboring estate.
Personally, I am delighted to know Palm Beach has a rich social history dating back to the Gilded Age, because I am very attached to the part of the original short story where Corey learns that the suite she’s been assigned is known as the “Duchess Suite,” so called because it was the room belonging to the original owner’s daughter, who became the Duchess of Claymore. (Note to Judith: Don’t ditch this, please!)
Speaking of Westmoreland descendants, in the interview, Judith drops a hint about her upcoming trilogy featuring the modern-day Westmorelands (one of whom, I do so dearly hope, is the current Duke of Claymore)… She tells us that the first book will be entitled The Wonder of Us…
